Bacton Wood, situated between the village of Bacton and North Walsham, is the place to take the family on a fine day. The wood, owned by the Forestry Commission, covers an area of low hills leading down Into a shallow central valley, and contains 30 species of tree, some native but others originating from as far afield as Japan, the north-west coast of America, and northern Europe.

In addition to the trees take time to look for some of the wood's wildlife - native birds such as Goldcrests or Tits, and summer visitors like the Warblers.You might even be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of a badger making a rare daylight appearance or the Fallow Deer and Hares which migrate into the woods.
